Jump to: navigation, search

The purpose of this wiki is to serve as one-stop shopping for all of the various bits and pieces of knowledge related to installing, configuring, securing and maintaining a small scale IT infrastructure supporting:

  • secure VPN to multiple sites
  • webservers (running blogs, wikis, static sites including use of SSL)
  • mailservers (POP, IMAP, and antivirus/antispam)
  • network storage management
  • multiple operating system support (Linux, Windows, Mac OS)
  • other issues as circumstances dictate.

The main navigation is via the Site Map page.

Background

For the most part, the content of this wiki is focused on Ubuntu based server installations and a basic understanding of *nix is assumed. We have run servers on other flavours of linux (RH, Fedora, Gentoo...) and some of the knowledge accumulated here is from those other OS environments. Ubuntu has had the advantage of being a popular and stable OS and, most importantly, is one of the easiest to keep up-to-date using apt-get.

Disclaimer: "knowledge" is kind of subjective, but it seems like Sean and Dave knew some stuff at some time but kept on forgetting it, so they decided to start a wiki figuring would be a good idea to put it down where maybe it could be found again...
